Can not uninstall or update .net framework 1.1 and 2.0

New fixpacks for .net framework 1.1 and 2.0 are not geting installed on my
laptop. I tried to re-install or uninstall both .net frameowrks, but I get
the following message:

The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the
source exists and that you can access it.

I have checked Microsoft support and other support groups, but I have not
found a solution for this issue and am very hesitent to use the registry to
uninstall it (I am not sure that is a good idea anyway). Has anyone seen this
issue before and know of any solutions. Any help is very much appreciated.
