Timeout - web service call inside library

The project I am working on is based upon the article on how to implement a
search solution using sharepoint from the September MSDN Magazine, "Find It -
Integrate Search into your Site with Asp.Net.

While I was able to get the code to work when I added it to my existing
website, when I added it to my existing library, I encountered a timeout
error. I have changed the timeout settings for the web service as well as
the page, nothing has helped. This is the part of the library that
encounters an error as well, the rest of the library functions fine.

I have contacted the author and he asked if I have tried running it from
within VS so I could debug it. I have done this but only have found that it
is a timeout. I haven't been able to locate any information on the internet
or Microsoft's site that refers to a web server request from within a class
library timing out and how to resolve it.

I wish to have this project within my library since this is a shared library
among multiple web site projects that I wish to use the same search code in.
