Events on COM3 port

Hi,
This is my Second post on the sensor.
Please some bodey help.
I am using a sensor which wil fire either ON or OFF events.
Now I want to read those events from COM3 port to my .net appliaction.
Is there any way to just read the events on COM3 port.
Please help, as my deadline is approaching.

Well what is the "event"?
Does your sensor pull a pin high/low depending upon it's on/off state?
Just it send down "on" or "off" as ascii text with RS232?

There's really not an "event" with COM ports, but if they called it an event, it's probably just pulling a pin high/low. Look up which one and then watch it.
