calculating time

How do we calculate the difference in time in excel? For example, if we
enter 10pm in D2 and 7am in B2 we get some strange number regardless if the
cell is formated as a number or as a time. Does it need to be in 24 hour
time or what are we doing wrong??

Help please

This is a newsgroup for .NET programmers. I think that you have much
more luck with your question if you post it in a more relevant
newsgroup, like perhaps microsoft.public.excel.
