Gridview Show Columns help

I have a column "description" in a sql table. it contains 2000 characters.

I would like to setup my gridview column "Description" to show
the first 30 characters only.

At the moment it shows all the characters.

Is there and option for this in Edit Columns, under GridView Tasks???

you can split 30 characters from description field while selecting....

make your sql like that...

SELECT SUBSTRING(description , 0, 29) AS desc FROM myTable
