music files

i have about 50 cds on my system that ive "ripped" from other cds onto my
computer. have burnt 1000's. my problem is that when i rip a cd to my music
files, some of the songs (not the whole cd contents) are moved to a unknown
music folder. then i have to play each song, figure out who it is and move
the individual songs back to where they were. sometimes the whole file goes
missing. how do i protect and lock existing files so this doesnt happen?
