Excel Automation

I am trying to embed Excel into an MDI application for automation. This seems to be a big topic on the internet with not many responses. I read this reply to a news article by Peter Huang and it looks like this is what I want to do. However, I am getting a few complie errors and can't figure out every peice of the code.

This is the link to the article.
http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread237299.html

Some errors I am recieving are:
The name 'openFile' does not exist in the current context.
The name 'cmdOpenBook' does not exist in the current context.
The name 'cmdCloseBook' does not exist in the current context.
The name 'cmdQuitExcel' does not exist in the current context.

I believe this is because they are not initialized, however I don't know what types they are so I don't know how to initialize them.

On another note, if anyone has other examples of how to automate excel in a MDI application please let me know. I need all functionality of excel (formating, macros, formula lookup, add-ins, etc.) so the ActiveX option is not going to work for me.

Thanks,
Chris

Welcome to TSDN. I think that you are right and that you need to provide references to fix these errors. Most of the sites that provide code don't provide all the referencing, so you will need to understand the code that you are using. HTH.
