Calling unmanaged C dll from C# Web Service

I am trying to make various calls to a C dll using DllImport from a C# webservice and am running into some problems. I have been able to successfully make the same calls from a C# application, however as soon as I try to make the call from a web service the service immediately crashes. "The program '[4588] aspnet_wp.exe: Managed' has exited with code 0 (0x0)."
I am assuming that this is related to some sort of File System permission issues / the location of the dll, however I have tried everything I can think of in these regards. I created a virtual directory as part of the web site that is linked to the Folder where my dll is located. I have adjusted all permissions on the folder to include the ASPNET machine account to grant full access. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.
