I don't know whether it's possible either, though I suspect it is. But can you give us an idea of what you've tried so far?
By the way, my guess would be you'll need to use automation to work with an Access object (much like the way we typically do with Excel) rather than using ADO or DAO to talk to the database. ADO and DAO, I believe,are more generic interfaces designed to talk to "some database", whereas the DoCmd is specifically a feature of Access.
Note, this is all just opinion and speculation - I haven't actually done anything in this area.
Have you tried adding
Microsoft Access Object xx.y Object Library to your references and playing around (carefully) with the objects?
