Using icons in project

I am using Visual C++ 2005. I am developing a component which is compiled to a .dll file and is used by other applications (in my case I include it in a VB project). I cant use any wizard since the component I am developing is completely code generated. I added a toolstrip item in my project. Now, I need to add some icons to the toolstrip buttons. My question is how I can do this, how I can find the path of the icons (I need a relative path) and how to add the icons to the project so that when it is compiled to a .dll they will still be there.
Thanks in advance for any help.
