ASP.Net 2.0, IIS6 Windows Authentication problem

I have an Intranet web application developed in VS2005, using ASP.Net 2.0 that uses windows authentication. When run on development or test deployment servers it works fine. When deployed on a production server, a login prompt is shown. After you enter your credentials, it works fine. Why is it asking the user to log in?
