WebService basic security issues

Hi,

I'm quite new to .NET (3.0) and I would like to aks you for some
basic info (links, tutorials, etc) regarding webservice security
issues.
I think my problem is quite frequent and for sure there is a simple
answer for it - I'm developing a webservice that will provide some
processing (of whatever) for free (no credentials, authentication,
etc). How can I prevent the 'flooding' of my server by someone? (Note:
the processing on the server can be quite time-consuming.)

Thanks!

Take a look at WSE 3.0.

Here is an example of implementing direct authentication against a
database:

Only cavet - WSE's Wizards aren't 100% with VS.NET 2005 SP1's web
application model. Because of this, you can't use the wizard to turn on the
SoapFactory. You'll need to manually put the SoapFactory lines into your
web.config to enable WSE's features.
