hey gus, when i wrote this code using c# :

and i run the program in the run time the pointer stop at this line :

and this error appeared:

object reference not set to an instance of an object


what is the problem ?

That error looks like it's occuring in the auto-generate windows designer code.
Did you modify that code manually?

Hmm you have got something seriously funky going on there. That call should be CREATING the object reference, so it shouldn't be saying anything about it.

I would suggest trying: remove the richtextbox from your form, and then sticking another one in there.

And you're saying the error claims to occur inside the initialize component function where the this.richTextBox1 = new System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox();

very strange indeed. I just copy and pasted your code and it worked just fine. The only error I get is when I try and load a DOC file, it throws an incorect file format from the LoadFile() call.
