vb5 license issues...pls help

is it true that Visual Basic 5.0 is already shareware? I heard rumors of it
circulating around here in the Philippines that it is. If it is, can you
please direct me to a site specifying such, and if not, please bash this
rumor once and for all.

thank you.

I sincerely doubt that any version of VB is, or will become, shareware.
Call your local Microsoft office and let them "bash the rumor", as only an
official pronouncement will do sufficient bashing.

gee...thanks a lot. can i ask another one? it's related to the first
question i had. i read an article from the internet about the lawsuit between
Sun and Microsoft. Well, they had been doing it a lot of times anyway...but
from the article, it says that they will retire some softwares from Microsoft
as part of the settlement. does that mean licenses for such softwares are not
needed anymore? here's the link:

http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/...crostop_1.html

Please give light to this problem because it has very disturbing piracy
issues here. thanks a lot again

It doesn't really matter whether Microsoft discontinues support for a product. Licensing of the
product is still required unless Microsoft states otherwise.
