VB.NET Progress Bar for an External Program

I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a progress bar to show the user how long an external program will take to load.

In my program it uses Microsoft Excel to create reports so that the user can display and print off their information effectively. However, I dont want them to assume that the program has froze while the data is sent and compiles in Excel. Does anyone know how to make it so a progress bar would appear to calculate and display the wait time until the program is ready?
