Computer freezing

I have windows XP Sp2, when I go to shut off computer it gets to Windows is
shutting down then the mouse and keyboard freeze up. Also at times the
computer will reboot on its own. I have up to date virus protection and
antispyware. Getting desperate, can someone please help me

Thanks

You're posting to the wrong NG. This is a programmer's NG. You need to post
to a AV NG and a MS.Public NG based on the O/S being used.
