Lost Articales and Letter Reconciliation System

A post office wants to improve its efficiency by delivering the lost letters and lost articles(which are sent in parcels) in a short period of time.Currently it takes about 3 months for a lost letter or a lost article to reach the correct destination. A machine reads address on letters. The ones, which could not be read by machine, are sorted by human intervention. Even after this, the address is not readable, it becomes a lost letter. Articles that fall out of the parcel become lost articles. When the sender/receiver calls up or contacts the post office for their letter/articles, a manual note is made and then this note is sent to the wareshouse where lost articles and lost letters are kept. The reconciliation process of finding the lost letter/article is manual and sometimes wront letter/article(s) is sent.

You have to develop a system, which captures the above functionality and reduce the turnaround time from 3 months to 10 working days. This is an Intranet application....

Plz help me..........

Thanks in advance..

It sounds like you're going to have to develop a system that lets the humans enter in the lost letters and lost articles information. The system will store the information into a database...so that when someone calls in they can pull up the information from what's been stored. You'll have to develop some search functionality that will look up the information.

I'd recommend taking the time to plan this system carefully.
It is not a small project and should not be rushed.

Start by designing the screens to let the people enter the information and the screens that let the people retrieve the information. Then write down what will happen when the user clicks buttons along with any other events are of importance. From these descriptions you should be able to plan out the objects that are needed by your system and determine what should be stored in your database. This will help your project development go smoother.

The experts on this site are more than happy to help you with your problems but they cannot do your assignment/program for you. Attempt the assignment/program yourself first and post questions regarding any difficulties you have or about a particular function of the code that you don't know how to achieve. This question will now be closed and you will have to post a new question when you're ready.

Good luck,
