Hi,
(tried in ms.public.dotnet.distributed_apps, but no answers)
I'm about to write a distributed app that will be deployed using ClickOnce.
All installations will need to access the same database (Sql Server 2005)
over the internet.
I'm thinking of doing this using WebServices. I doubt remoting would be a
better choice? Any other options?
I wonder how I should secure this app...
How can I authenticate people before they are allowed to install the app? I
can write a small aspx website around the manifests, but wouldn't that also
affect automatic updating? I mean, once they installed the app they should
be able to update without any hassle.
And how do I secure the WebServices? I surely don't want people to browse to
the asmx and do stuff. What are my options here?
Steven
