Reporting within VB.NET programs?

Though I have programmed for a few years now, I am just beginning to develop larger applications. In the past, I have written .NET programs with a SQL database backend, then linked the tables in Access so users could easily query and report on the data.

My question is this...

With more functionality going into these programs, is it better, or is there even a way, to report within the actual program itself, as opposed to creating an Access file and linking the SQL tables?

I don't need a full blown explanation...even an introduction to what I need to look for on MSDN will work.

I have not used Access, however I know there is reporting capabilities built in to VS. Take a look at Crystal Reports and see if that will give you what you are looking for.

I would not recommend using Access for anything but the bare minimum, as it does not provide the scalability that most Access programs eventually require.

That's why I want to get away from Access. In addition to the fact that it just adds another layer that isn't necessary.

Can anyone give me any examples of how they've incorporated Crystal Reports into their .NET programs?
