BindingSource and ReportViewer

13
Hi everyone

I wanna ask how to display on ReportViewer items filtered through BindingSource.Filter? Or are there any other ways for me to filter records and display on ReportViewer?

Or is this a problem as I drag and drop my fields into .rdlc from the data source tab?...I really have no idea. The ReportViewer keeps on showing all records.

Please help.

Many thanks.

This issue has come up several times in the forum with no satisfactory soultion.

The proplem is that the report's data source binds to a DataTable but the filtered version of your data produced by a BindingSource is created in a DataView and hence the report get all the record in the underlying DataTable instead of the filtered version of the data.

A solution is to create the binding to the ReportViewer at run-time using a local DataTable created from the BindingSource's DataView as follows.

private void PrintForm_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DataTable _filteredTable;
// Create a local data table from your binding source DataView
_filteredTable = ((DataRowView) _yourBindingSource.Current).DataView.ToTable();

// Add the newly created table to the datasource
reportDataSource1 = new Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportDataSource();
reportDataSource1.Name = "ReportDataSource";
reportDataSource1.Value = _filteredTable;
this.reportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rep ortDataSource1);
this.reportViewer1.RefreshReport();
}
