need to count no of columns starting with a same column name

Hi,
I have a dataset and which consists of columns some of which are fields1.id ,field2.id and likewise,i want to count all those columns starting with name fields.

try with this,
foreach (DataColumn dc in dt.Columns)
{
string name=dc.ColumnName;
// take the subString or trim the string into 5 letter (if u need to get Like Field) and compare it and increment the count
}

Hi Prabhu,

this may work, good idea,what i tried is ,taken the count of columns and and applied for loop , compared for substring ,somewhat same way u suggested.
