Remote Desktop Changes Default Printer

Whenever I use remote desktop to connect my laptop to my desktop computer the
default printer on my desktop gets changed. This has been happening for quite
some time but I have started to really get annoyed. It always changes to the
same default (a printer that is offline and has a 55mm x 55mm printing area).
Subsequently, if I don't correct the problem, the defaults for print jobs
change and a single page can turn into hunndreds of pages.

Can anyone give me any insite as to how to correct this?

Thanks to anyone that can help.
