Norton Internet Security 2005

I m using a Packard Bell Easy Note MV preloaded with Windows XP HE with SP2
and NIS 2005 . I have to uninstal the NIS because everytime I am online (via
WIFI) NIS keeps poping up with messages for me to download updates because of
new findings. I always click on for the updates, but NIS always come back
advising that downloading was unsuccessful owing to lapse time and
disconnected from the downloader and request that I click on downloading the
updates again. I went through many times of uninstalling NIS and now resolve
to the fact that NIS must be permanently disabled. Guidance will be greatly
appreciated

You need to address your NIS issue with Symantec tech support.

Good groups for Windows XP:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

As I mentioned previously in the thread, you should also take this up with
Symantec technical support.

Look for a group with "Windows" in the description.

I had a similar situation, the support was hopeless, and I finally resolved
it by uninstalling, thoroughly cleaning the hard disk and the registry of
Symantec and Norton leftovers, and installing AVG anti-Virus and
anti-Spyware and ZoneAlarm free firewall.
