Downloading a file using vb.net

Hello,

I am writing an ASP.net application (with vb.net). My application allows users to upload files. I want to allow them to download their files at a later point. How should I do this? Any help is appreciated.

you can probably just use a LinkButton with the NavigateURL property set to the location of the file. when the file opens, the user can choose to save it if they wish. if the file is a microsoft one (excel, word, etc...) the browser will prompt the user to either open or save. if the file is an image, the user can just right click and "Save Image As...". if the file is an Adobe, they can click the save button once open. seems much easier than trying to write code for downloading.
hope this helps

You'll probably want to associate users with particular files, record some file information such as date uploaded, size, etc.

This starts looking like a database. You can store the binary there too, then when you want to run backups, etc...you'll be doing it all in the data store.
