save power for some short period while not stopping user interaction

Hello!

I'm absolutely new here. Thank you for this forum.

I have the following question:
What would be a C# code to slow down the CPU for a planned interval, so that the CPU consumes less power in that time?

Any ideas?

Thank you all in advance!

Peace

Hello!

As I got no answer to my question about programmatically slowing down the CPU to save power, here comes another one, as a substitute, for ya specialists out there...

How would you implement the following:

Save power on a PC during a short period of time (say one second) with the less annoyance for the user. The optimum would be that the user does'nt even notice. The amout of power saved is not important, as long as it is measurable, although more is better.
If possible in C# or any other .NET lang.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Peace

Have you tried thread.sleep(100) or similar? What exactly is your problem? HTH.

Thank you very much! The program I think about has no thread itself to put to sleep. Instead it would need to put other processes (programs) to sleep for a short amount of time (at least it would be ONE method to maybe sav some energy).

There is no real problem, it is more of a theoretical question. Is it possible to save energy for a short amount of time (say one sec), without annoying the user? Maybe one could dim the monitor or suspend something for a short period? Or just put all other processes (or some or most) to sleep.

Any ideas? Any code?
