populating a datagrid control by using a datasource only

Hello,

I am using vb .net 2005 and asp .net 2.0. i dont have the option of selecting a dataadapter but i can select the datasource options from the menu( the dataadapters are all inactive). I am trying to view data in the datagrid but at run-time the datagrid is shown with the number of rows available for display but the problem is the data itself is not shown in the grid. I would please like some help on how to use a datasource, connectionstring and datagrid to display the information. I am new to vb so i have hit rock bottom please help....

Thanks and regards,
