Webservice Question

Hi there,
can any of you gurus tell put me right with this issue. We
had planned on connecting our product to a third party product via web
services with BizTalk in the middle. However, the guy at the third party
company is saying that he cannot connect to the BizTalk web services as they
use .Net 2.0, but his software was written using .Net 1.1. I was under the
impression that Web Services were language independant. There is nothing in
a WSDL that is anything to do with .Net. If this guy is given a WSDL,
surely he should be able to connect to it irrespective of the .Net version?
