Get a checkbox's value from another application window?

I have a C# app that controls another application using user32.dll FindWindow and SendMessage calls.

Now one of the windows I'm controlling has a checkbox. Anybody know if there's any way for my program to get that checkbox's value or not?

Thanks.

You should use delegate together with event to fire back to your control app.
When check status changed, it raises the event and call back to your control app.
Cheers.

Thanks for the reply.
The problem with that is I didn't create the application being controlled so I can't modify it to callback to my control app (no source code). That's actually the reason why I had to make this controller program in the first place.

Any other ideas?

Have you tried to see if you can retrieve the child windows that belong to the other process's main window handle? I'm not sure if that would work or not, but it's an idea.

I found the solution to this if anybody else runs across this problem. Apparently, you can also send a get checkbox value/state message (BM_GETCHECK) through SendMessage.
