Win XP will not boot without CD

When I try to boot my laptop now, getting error: invalid system disk, press
any key...
I'm trying to edit boot.ini file seems my boot.ini file is the problem
maybe?
can someone help?

This is a programmers group, so you might want to try one the OS groups.
However, a simple repair might fix your problem. Start up the installation
process from your CD/DVD and choose to repair a damaged installation. Please
follow the instructions on screen when doing so.
