DataReader Vs Dataset for a single record

I need to get only one row of record from a table. No need to update the data. So I am confused. Whether I should use DataReader or Dataset. Which is the best practice?

Welcome to the site. Best practice also depends on requirements and purpose. Datareader is faster of the two. HTH.

Since you need to only read data from DB, DataReder is preferable and faster.

Use,
SqlDataReader.CommandBehavior.SingleResult

So the The query returns a single result set
