Write protected CD`s

I am trying to write to a cd, but when either I try to save, I get the
message `Word Cannot save or create this file. Make sure that the disc you
wat to save the file is not full, write protected or damaged` Well my SCd is
new and its not damaaged so the only possibilty it is still write protected.
How do I remove the write protect.
