Technology choices for desktop video app.

Hi All,

I am about to start a Win desktop project relying heavily
on video processing like loading and playing videos of different
formats, layering additional information over the video and more.

The product is due in approx. one year, and should run
on WinXP and higher.

1. Technology: Would DirectShow be the right technology,
or would you vote for other alternatives (Media Foundation) ?

2. Language: Would using C# (my favorite..) impact my
ability to interact with the video processing layer
(DirectShow or other) in terms of efficiency and
set-of-capabilities?
Thank you,

SamSpide
