Database in visual studio

How do accept either just the date 1/1/07 or time 09.30 using the built in database in visual studio.

The data type is datetime for both and I cant see anywhere to change what I want accepted

I assume that you mean you have a VS.NET database project. Maybe your database project only has one datetime data type and you need to format the date in your code? More information needed...
