Using Visual Basic 2005 (Express Edition), I've developed an XML schema on
my computer for use with a project that I'm working on with a coworker. On
his system, using the same version of visual studio, he is unable to view
the contents of the XSD file in design mode. When he clicks on the file in
the solution explorer, it goes directly to code view. When right clicking
on the file in solution explorer and selecting "view designer", he gets an
error message that reads:
"There is no editor available for 'ourfile.xsd'. Make sure the application
for the file type (.xsd) is installed."
I've googled the heck out of this message, and, while I've found several
references and workarounds as it applies to resx files, there doesn't appear
to be any reference to the same issue for XSD files. Naturally, we've tried
a complete uninstall/reinstall of all of the development tools, dotnet
framework, etc, but so far we haven't been able to get it to work in design
view. I'd appreciate any feedback.
