datagrid hyperlink col / button problem

Hi

I have made a datagrid with first column as hyperlink col and last as button col and all cols inbetween are bound cols. the hyperlink col contains the empid n when an enpid is clicked a form is opened with the info of that particular empid. But when I try to access the empid using the button in the button col it's not working. but if i try it with bound cols it's working perfectly fine.

The code m using is:

s = e.item.cell(0).text --- it doesnt work

how can I solve this.....Cnat it access value from a hyperlink col???

(HyperLink)e.Item.FindControl(LinkControlName);
