VB.Net DateTime Problem

Hi,
I try to bind records into datagrid based on certain condition.The condition is when the Rdate in database column is larger than today date will be display on datagrid.
my problem is , the records display is not fullil the condition i set. as long as the day value(dd) (RDate) is larger than today day value(dd), it will display on datagrid.It ingore the Month and Year.It seen look like it compare as string instead of dateTime.
The dateTime format in database is (dd/MM/yyyy) as well as the system datetime.

Help....

Public Sub LoadStudent()
Dim dsStudent As New DataSet
Dim sqlQuery As String = "SELECT * FROM Reservation WHERE RDate >= #" & dtpDate.Value.ToShortDateString & "# "
Try
Dim adpt As New OleDbDataAdapter(sqlQuery, c)
adpt.Fill(dsStudent, "StudentTable")
Catch ex As OleDb.OleDbException
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try
dgStudent.SetDataBinding(dsStudent, "StudentTable")
dgStudent.AllowSorting = True
