Problem with DateTime

hello

i am using c# as code behind .i have string date in my application ,i want to

save this date value in my database sqlserver2000 which is declared as

datetime. so i am converting date field from string to datetime as

date1=Convert.ToDatetime(date);

now i am using this date1 in my insert query as a parameter

this is giving an error while inserting.

how can this be solved .any other convertion needed before inserting in to database.
