nested datagrid problem

Hi There!

I'm working on a web page with 2 nested data grid, everything working cool except one problem I have finding a drop down list in the child grid on runtime

dgTemp = CType(e.Item.FindControl("DataGrid2"), DataGrid)

Dim ddlType As New DropDownList

ddlType = CType(dgTemp.FindControl("Child_ddl_Rooms_Sigmet_C TG"), DropDownList)

ON RUNTIME I GET : ddlType = NOTHING

the inner grid is inside a place holder and the place holder is inside of one of the parent data grid's itemTamllate

<asp:TemplateColumn><ItemTemplate>

<asp:PlaceHolder ID="ChildExpanded" Runat="server" Visible="False">

</td></tr><tr><td width="9">&nbsp;</td><td colspan="7">

<asp:DataGrid id=DataGrid2 .........

any help will be very appreciated........
