Global Error handling Asp.net VB 2.0 via web.config

I would like to use a global error handler via the web config file.
Setting the error page is easy but I seem to be having issues catching the error in my customized page.

Here is the offending line:
Dim ex As Exception = Server.GetLastError().GetBaseException()

Once I get the exception and know how to read the items I am clear on what I want to do (email it)

Tx for any help
