Very basic question

Can someone explain how I set up an 'onclick' event handler for a button. All
I need it to do is to display another web page. Optionally (if it does not
add a lot of complexity), I'd like to pass to the new page the contents of a
particular column in the selected row of a gridview.

Thanks from a novice.
