Downloading service pack 2

I have a Dell computer with Microsoft windows XP home edition. I downloaded
Service pack 2 a year ago and my whole computer crashed. It took me a full
day to redo my whole computer while I was on the phone with Dell. I also had
downloaded the 2006 version of Norton antivirus before I downloaded the
service pack 2. I keep getting updates to download the service pack 2. I
have no support anymore for service pack 1. What do I do to download the
pack2? I'm afraid I might crash again. Could it have been the mixture of
the antivirus and the service pack 2? I am not a computer wiz, it is all
confusing to me so please be very specific. Any help would be deeply
appreciated. Thanks.

You may also want to ask this question in a group dedicated to Windows XP,
such as:

First, I suggest that you download the entire SP2 here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Second, make sure *nothing* Norton is running on your computer when
installing SP2. If I were you, I'd uninstall Norton completely, install SP2,
then reinstall Norton.

You can also just use Windows Update to download and install SP2:
