Web Service and Asyncronous Notification

Hi,

Is it possible to develop a web service which can send asyncronous
notification to the client application using Web Service and not the
Remoting?

What I really want to know that, if each client application have a web
service which gets the notification from server web service (on some
task running on server). Is this possible? Does anyone have done it
before.

The reason for not using the remoting is that some of our client
applicaiton are hosted on windows CE OS which doesn't support the .net
remoting but does support web service.

As far as I know the .NET compact framwork doesn't support the
remoting. Does remoting is now fully supported by latest version of
Windows Compact Framework? Does any one have any idea.

If this is possible then pls provide me some pointers so that I can
explore more about it.

Do you need the notification to be reliable? Is it ok for the client to not
bo notified?

Also, are you looking for asynchronous notification of when the web service
completes? If so, see if CF supports asynchronous calls to web services.
