No "release" option when building website

I have an asp.net VS 2005 solution that was converted from VS 2003 that I
have a deployment problem with. It compiles and runs fine, but now that I'm
ready to deploy it I cannot set the website build to Release, i.e. the only
option that's available is Debug. I've set debug=off in the Compilation tag
in web.config but it makes no difference. The solution also contains a class
library that I has both Debug/Release options and I can toggle it just fine.

Any ideas anyone??
