I am trying to publish my VB6.0 app using the MS article "Automatically
Updatng Visual Basic 6 Applications: Part I, By Scott Swigart.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/de...datVB6apps.asp
I am configured as recommended in the article (VB 6.0, VB 2005 Exp.,
..NET Framework 2.0 on XP Pro.)
And it works just fine on my local system.
The problem is when I publish to my remote website.
I replaced the Publish Location <http://Localhost/MyAppLauncher/>
...with
the web URL http://www.<webroot>.com/
When I click Publish, the Download web page appears normally. But,
now, clicking "Install" causes what appears to be the manifest script
to be displayed in the same browser window. It is not downloaded. The
URL is http://www.<webroot>.com/MyAppLauncher.application>
If you are not familiar with the subject article/procedure, it intends
to publish a VB 2005 application file to the server which, when called,
will deploy a VB6 exe which is also deployed from VB 2005.
At this point I can access the download page from any other system and
the same script is displayed when "Install" is clicked.
So what going on here?
Hosting says they are clean. I'm stumped.
Thank you, TC
