Changing Control Size on the fly

Does any one know how to reset the position of a panel with it's
components at runtime. I want to have a panel that is sized small in IDE
so I can see the background to work on other controls. Then when a
button is clicked, I want to set the left, top, width and height to
expand it to the desired size. I did not like in the old'n days with VB6
using the Panel1.height=xxx, width=xxx, top=xxx, left=xxx and absolutly
NOTHING HAPPENED.
