You look at the "proxyAddresses" attribute of the user in AD. It is a
multi-valued attribute with strings of the form
smtp:us**@server.domain or x500:/o=xx/ou=yy/cn=zz (or other additional
protocols)
the main smtp address should also be in the "mail" attribute (single valued)
without the smtp: prefix.

Does anyone know how to go about viewing/changing/adding/deleting an
Active
Directory/Exchange 2003 user's e-mail address. If you pull up a user in
AD
Users and Computers and click on the E-mail Addresses tab I would like to
manipulate some of the smtp addresses listed there, using a VB script or
VB.Net program.
