httpModules section in the web.config conflicts with web service.

Hi all,

we have a webservice as a seperate virtual directory placed under a Web Site
named GRSCS in IIS. Both are .NET applications and uses MS application
blocks as the data layer. Recently an http module was included in the root
site which is GRSCS and the webservice has not functioned ever since. the
service starts working when u comment the httpmodule section in the
web.config file of the main (root application) which is GRSCS. Is there any
particular reason for this or if there is work around other than moving the
service under a different web directory not running httpmodules please drop
me a reply.

thankx,

Asela Gunawardena.

I remember struggling with this when working on the Validator Module
(http://www.thejoyofcode.com/Validator_Module.aspx)

You need to *remove* the httpModules you don't want in your 'child'
application.

So if in the parent app you have a web.config like so

<httpModules>
<add name="blah" etc....

Then in the child one you can explicitly remove it like so

<httpModules>
<remove name="blah" />
