yDespite numerous attempts to rectify this 'fault' any programmes i install
just go into the Programmes folder, BUT NOT into the Add/Remove Programmes in
Control Panel, therefore if i download a programme that doesn't run properly
i cant remove it, very frustrating to say the least. The Machine is a HP
Compac Presario with 200GB HDD, 3.4 AMD Althlon Processor, 64 Bit......its
also very slow on boot-up, there being 1 GB DDR RAM Installed, with Windows
XP Home Edition with SP2 pre-installed, done all the updates, but i cant
delete any of the programmes, as there are far too many installed for my
liking, any advice would be very welcome,
thanks

Have you tried a repair install of Windows XP Home?
You also may want to post you question in a Windows XP newsgroup, such as:
microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support
and/or contact HP for support, as they supplied the OEM Windows with your
laptop.
thanks for your suggestions, i am unable to do a fresh install of Windows XP
Home as i didn't get an OS Disc with the machine, ive got the serial number
but no disc, all the software was pre-installed...looks like i'll be phoning
HP, but at £1.50 per minute (calls should last no more than 20 minutes),
thats another £30 on top of the price i paid for the damn machine..a word of
advice to anyone wanting a PC, dont go to Curry's for it, because once they
have sold you it, they dont want to know, i just thought a 64 bit machine
would be better3.4 processor and 1 GB RAM, i might just have well kept my 32
bit 2.8 processor, it left this heap standing!!
Best regards

Hi
With HP you get a hidden partion. I think it's F10 when you see the HP
Bios screen. When the restore program is running you get the option to
restore the OS saving your data or by choosing "advanced" to restore
the complete machine losing everything including your data.
Help and support at www.hp.com will give the full procedure on
restoring the PC.

How is the program installed? Does it use an installer like
InstallShield? Have you confirmed that the program is not listed under
a different name in the Add Remove list?
Anyway, what relevance does this have to .dotnet? This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics
