LogonUser timeout when disconnected from network

Hello!
I have an application using LogonUser for authentification, running
under XP SP2.

LogonUser answers after a very long time (30 to 90 seconds) in the
cases above:
- I log on to Windows with the network connected, then unplug my
network cable and launch the application.
- I log on to Windows with the network connected, then disconnect my
machine from the domain controller and launch the application.

LogonUser returns immediately (less than 3-4 seconds) if:
- I unplug the network cable before logging on to Windows, then launch
my application while cable is still unplugged.
- I disable "Local Area Connection" from the "Network Connections".

Any clue to reduce the timeout and force LogonUser to use the cached
credentials quicker? Every suggestion would be great!
