Smart Client and Web Service

Hi,

I have a VB.NET application which uses one of my Web
Services.
It runs fine when run directly on the local machine.
But when run via a Web page (Smart Client) I get the
following error message...
Error loading XML file http://[url]. There is an invalid
character in the givern encoding. Line 1, position 3.

Anybody know how to fix this?

Regards,
Andrew Winn
